Here, students from all majors work on real-world data, problems, and challenges from the sports industry, in direct collaboration with companies in the field.
Industry Projects
Leading sports organizations bring us strategic problems they haven’t been able to solve, whether due to lack of time, bandwidth, or a fresh perspective. Student teams, advised by ITAM faculty, design and implement data science solutions that have real impact in the industry.
Academic Research
We run internal research projects on football, American football, and more. Some will be published. Others might become student theses. All aim to push the boundaries of sports analytics.
Student Organization
The Lab is a key support arm behind the ITAM Sports Analytics Conference (ISAC), the Hackathon, the Case Competition, and other initiatives that strengthen the academic–sports ecosystem in Mexico.

Fernando Esponda
Director of the Bachelor's Degree in Data Science
Fernando is a Data Science professor at ITAM and the director of the Bachelor's Degree in Data Science. He has extensive experience in sports analytics, having worked with various teams and organizations to apply data science techniques to improve performance and strategy.

Santiago is a Data Science ex-student at ITAM, with a passion for sports analytics. He has been involved in the ISAC Lab since its inception, helping to shape its direction and projects. His expertise lies in applying data science to sports performance analysis and team strategy.
